Faecal calprotectin is a marker of inflammation within the gastrointestinal tract. Measuring calprotectin levels in a dog’s stool sample helps identify whether digestive signs such as chronic diarrhoea, weight loss, vomiting, or intermittent gastrointestinal upset may be associated with intestinal inflammation.
This non-invasive test can support the investigation of conditions such as inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) and other chronic enteropathies, and can also be useful for monitoring response to treatment over time. Results are interpreted alongside your dog’s clinical history and examination findings, and should always be discussed with your veterinary surgeon to ensure appropriate diagnosis and care.
